Description:

Pond Lehocky, a cutting edge consumer practice firm of 23 attorneys with offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City, is looking for an energetic and experienced marketing professional to serve as Chief Marketing Officer. This is a newly created position that will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing the Firm’s marketing strategies, marketing communications and public relations activities, and coordinating at strategic and tactical levels with department heads and partners. The Chief Marketing Officer will lead the marketing department of 8 professionals, report to the COOs, and will be a member of the management team.

The Firm has a large marketing budget and prides itself on staying in front of the curve in web, social media and marketing strategies. Within the Firm, the position has primary working relationships with the Partners, COOs, CFO and the management team, staff of the marketing team and other departments, as needed. Outside the Firm, this position coordinates with vendors, agencies, media and referral sources.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing, Communications and Public Relations
• Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing program that will enhance the Firm’s image and position within the marketplace.
• Organization and implementation of all of the Firm’s marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials, including newsletters, publications, television, radio, outdoor, print advertising, media relations, online presence, etc.
• Ensure consistent messaging, imagery, branding, tone and positioning throughout the Firm and to all constituencies, including coordinating appearance of all print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, font, colors, etc.
• Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Firm publications and collateral materials.
• Develop, coordinate, oversee and assist with new Firm programs and/or initiatives that may fall outside the scope of the marketing department but have institutional value.
• Leads any and all projects as assigned, such as special events, new initiatives, etc.

Planning and Budgeting
• Responsible for the achievement of the marketing mission, goals and budgetary objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place, and utilized, in order to effectively report on progress and make suggestions.
• Regularly conduct market research, monitor trends and keep a close eye on new developments in the marketing field to ensure that the Firm stays ahead of the curve and is at the forefront of all new marketplace ideas. Use information to help the Firm operate with initiative and innovation.
• Make recommendations for, and adhere to, the firm’s marketing budget, including regional budgets as needed.
• Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures in order to smooth operation of the marketing department.

Organizational Strategy
• Work with Partners and management team to develop and maintain a strategic perspective. Utilize innovation, creativity, as well as marketplace data, to create ideas and implement them to ensure the vitality and growth of the Firm.
• Act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to Firm priorities.
• Help ensure that the Firm’s mission, philosophy and vision are pertinent and practiced at all levels of the organization.

Manage Outside Relationships
• Work with outside agencies (creative, media buyers, printers, ad sales, mailhouses, vendors, etc.) to negotiate best rates and come up with creative, cost-effective solutions to current needs.
• Oversee the relationship building efforts with referral sources, including appreciation events, strategic development initiatives, monitoring trends and making suggestions for improvements.

Manage Marketing Department
• Supervise, train, appraise, support and develop current marketing staff to ensure a marketing team that is competent, astute, dedicated and efficient.
• Make staffing and hiring recommendations within marketing department.
• Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality marketing professionals.
• Ensure that marketing personnel are thinking strategically, fully engaged in process as well as tasks, assuming responsibility for their role and transmitting the Firm’s values, vision and direction on a daily basis.


Requirements:

• BS/BA in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of marketing experience in a professional services organization with demonstrated success – preferably a legal background.
• 3 years’ experience at director level or 5 years’ experience as marketing manager.
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities including, but not limited to: writing for all mediums, understanding of media, design and production of print materials and publications, reporting, budgeting, database management and Internet marketing.
• Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and management skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time, from inception through execution.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A hunger to learn and the ability to flourish in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high demand and high reward.
• Creative thinker, idea generator, entrepreneurial, self-starter with a hands-on approach and positive attitude.
