Description:

With impressive cases, clients and growth, Hellmuth & Johnson is looking for an experienced marketing professional to take the firm’s marketing program to the next level. Working hand-in-hand with the firm’s lawyers, the Director of Marketing will chart the course for the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives. This newly created position will report to the Managing Partner and oversee a department consisting of two additional staff members.


Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Develop and direct marketing, business development and client initiatives and programs at the firm.
•    Develop and implement a branding program to raise the firm’s visibility.
•    Brainstorm opportunities and strategies with individual lawyers and practice groups, and assist in developing marketing plans.
•    Follow up with individual lawyers and groups of lawyers to ensure implementation of marketing plans and assignments.
•    Participate in the development of proposals or pitches for business and assist with the targeting of new business.
•    Assist lawyers in improving their business development skills.
•    Manage all marketing communications for the firm including PR, website, advertising, social media, collateral materials, events, sponsorships, etc.
•    Manage and mentor the department staff.
•    Prepare and monitor a marketing budget.


Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required.
•    Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in professional services marketing; legal marketing experience is a plus.
•    Proven record of success in managing a marketing and business development department.
•    Maturity, confidence, high energy and a positive attitude.
•    Assertive but diplomatic.
•    Able to communicate effectively with lawyers and staff, both orally and in writing.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of establishing immediate credibility and rapport.
•    Hands-on; willing to “roll up the sleeves” to get the job done.
•    Strong client service focus.
•    Supervisory experience.
•    Proactive and able to provide creative ideas.
•    Detail oriented, with great organizational and project-management skills.
