Description:

Manion Gaynor & Manning LLP, a national litigation firm of 65 attorneys with 8 offices, is looking for an experienced legal services marketer to serve as Director and proactively guide and support its strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will plan, coordinate, implement and manage the firm and practice group activities with respect to marketing, business development, public relations and client support. The Director supervises a Marketing Coordinator.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Implementation: Develops and executes the annual marketing plan for the firm including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and brand management.
  • Leadership: Develops and motivates a best-in-class, client-service oriented marketing team through leadership, workflow analysis, and training; ensures the team meets and exceeds the goals of the firm. Liaises with the HR team to prepare and deliver internal communications. Works with other firm Directors and Office Managers to achieve firm goals.
  • Committee Support: Supports the firm’s two Practice Groups in marketing planning and execution, including setting agendas, maintaining the project lists, and suggesting relevant opportunities. Serves as a member of committees requiring marketing support. Undertakes continuous analysis of competitive environment, stays current on developments within the industry. Reports on marketing activities and results to the Executive Director and various committees.
  • Website and Social Media: Responsible for the firm’s website, blogs, social networking platforms for the firm and its attorneys (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), and other electronic communications, including drafting and updating content and images, evaluating effectiveness, drafting and implementing policies, and working with outside technical and design consultants as needed. Manages the digital media strategy to drive brand awareness and engagement, creating and leveraging content and improving social media reputation and recognition.
  • Third-Party Marketing Partner Support: Provides logistical, creative, and marketing support to third-party business development partner companies as required.
  • Proposals and Attorney Biographies: Supervises and coordinates the firm’s RFP process, including soliciting RFP’s from appropriate prospective clients and drafting and submitting proposals for new business as needed. Participates in planning and presentation efforts as appropriate (including presentation packets, slides, etc.). Creates and maintains attorney biographies and experience inventory.
  • Marketing Collateral: Develops and maintains collateral including blog posts, website content, email marketing campaigns and press releases.
  • Budgeting: Develops and manages the firm’s marketing budget, which includes marketing expenditures for the firm, practice groups, and individual attorneys.
  • Directories and Awards: Manages the firm’s profiles on online directories and referral sites, submits information for attorney and firm awards, promotes awards, and determines which directories should be launched and maintained.
  • Event Planning/Coordination and Gifts: Develops, organizes and provides support for business development/client services functions, events, and opportunities for the firm, including:

    - Firm receptions, CLE, webinars, conferences, seminars, and other special firm-sponsored events.
    - Receptions and celebrations (and associated gifts); and
    - Holiday cards, gifts, and thank you gifts for clients or referral sources.
  • Marketing Databases: Maintains firm databases utilized for marketing, business development, public relations, and client services, including the CRM system (Contact Ease).
  • Occasional travel will be required to the firm’s other offices and to support conference involvement.
  • Other Duties: Performs any other tasks as may be required by the partnership at the direction of the Executive Director.

Requirements:
  • College degree required with concentration in marketing, business, and/or communications strongly preferred.
  • At least five years in marketing manager/director/assistant director role within a professional services environment. Law firm experience with litigation marketing background strongly preferred.
  • Strong professional services B2B marketing experience.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to adopt the style, tone and voice of the firm’s various types of content.
  • Very intelligent; creative thinker; and demonstrates good judgment.
  • Good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to improve processes.
  • Assertive, but diplomatic with the ability to convince and influence management teams to effect change.
  • Hands-on; strong work ethic and willingness to “roll up the sleeves” to get the job done.
  • Excellent follow through; strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage simultaneous projects and competing priorities in a professional manner.
  • Strong business acumen, focused on results and measurement and how the marketing team’s deliverables add value to the business.
  • Technology:

    - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and website content management systems.

    - Familiar with SEO and Google Analytics including ability to set goals, interpret metrics, and implement projects that will improve online         performance and visibility.
